I visited Southern to fix my cravings for some fried chicken! This place is a hidden gem in St. Louis and I can't believe I got the amount of food that I did for $30. I ordered their family meal deal for pickup and this included: 4 tenders, 3 drums, 3 thighs, 3 pints of sides, and pickles and bread. For sides I got their crinkle cut fries, Mac and cheese, and fried okra. The sides were all delicious and seasoned very well. For the meat, I chose mild for my heat level which was perfect. Each bite had a nice hotness to it but it also wasn't so hot that I couldn't continue. They have 5-6 other heat levels to choose from if you wanted to go spicer. The chicken was fried perfectly and had the crunch factor that I was looking for. I ordered the family meal because I wanted to have leftovers and I certainly did. Between the chicken and the sides, I probably had 5-6 meals worth of food, and all for only $30. This was a great deal and I will definitely be coming back when I want fried chicken!

This place is a hidden gem the chicken was delicious and the sides were just as delicious! Staff was great and got our food out hot. Such a cute little spot for lunch! The only thing was the wrap was a little underwhelming but everything else was amazing!

Great food, good atmosphere. Seems like it's run by the same people who run Pappy's next door. Plenty of seating when I came in with my daughter at lunch time on a Sunday. Note they are closed on Monday & Tuesdays according to a sign on their door.

I don't give 5 often, but this spot right here.....I thoroughly enjoyed the spicy chicken dark... truly balanced in seasons that gave not just hot sauce but a mixture of seasoning that left your palette wanting more. Yeeeees! The crunch on the skin, the moist bites not dry..freshly made, we all had that chicken that stayed too long in grease. This was not that. I grabbed and ran after driving 5 hours to get here but it was definitely an Ill be back moment. Ok the ONLY issue I had was, the bread, the oil from this chicken must have overwhelmed the bread. Hard to explain. I guess I will say the bread was to oily??. Is that a thang?? Lolol Not enough to keep me away!
